Description

The Work Based Learning Specialist is responsible for developing and coordinating activities to strengthen ties with employers and community partners in the training of students, in compliance with government and management directives.Essential Functions

  • Coordinate the Work-Based Learning (WBL) Program to include development of new WBL sites; maintain liaison with center management; obtain student evaluations and arrange for transportation or meals according to WBL program guidelines.

  • Assist in the development of new and revised policies and procedures regarding WBL; provide training to staff.

  • Coordinate and disseminate student schedules with other departments and discuss issues affecting program operations.

  • Review and audit all assigned areas regularly for contractual compliance and effectiveness of delivery of services to students. Prepare related reports.

  • Ensure that work site supervisors understand the expectations of the work place support role; obtain proper approvals on all paperwork.

  • Maintain contact with off-center industry and business for the purpose of monitoring and evaluating the quality and effectiveness of WBL program; maintain log of work sites and linkages; paid and unpaid.

  • Maintain all contractual agreements between center, work site and students.

  • Monitor the employability of student employees involved in the work the WBL program; conduct employability readiness classes.

  • Assist the career transition readiness (CTR) and career transition service (CTS) specialist to conduct job development to identifying potential employers.

  • Maintain current information on center linkages and participation in community activities.

  • Process monthly students status reports tracking program performance and submit list of completing student's for graduation; develop internal system with other departments to ensure student participation and completion of WBL.

  • Assist with Career Success Standard (CSS) instruction and leadership training.

  • Conduct monthly visits to WBL sites to evaluate the effectiveness of the program, program compliance and student performance

  • Monitor student attendance at WBL sites and adhere to the center's SOP.

  • Coordinate site visit along with the center's safety officer to ensure compliance with PRH safety requirements.

  • Develop and maintain partnerships with outside agencies that will assist in serving students with disabilities.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree and three year related experience working with employers and knowledge of public relations required. Directly related experience may be considered in lieu of formal education requirements if approved by management. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and computer proficiency also required. Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
