The position requires the ability to work with a personal computer in a Windows environment. Use Microsoft Office Suite software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, as well as using the Internet.
Education and Experience Required
Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) or equivalent, plus four to six years related management experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licensing or other Special Requirements
Valid state driver’s license.
Purpose of the Position
Drives sales of MAPEI’s product line by managing a designated region and delegating sales responsibilities to other representatives within the region. Sells products for MAPEI to various distribution channels or directly to trained contractors. Promotes features and benefits of MAPEI products to specification community, contractors and distribution partners.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and implement strategic sales plans to accommodate corporate goals.
Direct sales forecasting activities and set performance goals/objectives for the region and individual sales territory.
Review market analyses to determine customer needs, price schedules, and discount rates in the region.
Execute channel development activity and coordinate sales distribution by establishing sales territories, quotas, and goals as directed. Assign sales territory to sales representatives.
Deliver sales presentations to key clients or prospective customers in coordination with sales representatives; sell MAPEI products with an emphasis on hands-on demonstrations using samples, and displaying salable product features.
Compiles lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from business directories, industry ads, trade shows, internet web sites, and other sources.
Prospect and develop distributors and clients concerning market penetration and sales opportunities in the region.
Meet with key clients, assisting sales representative with maintaining relationships, negotiating and closing deals.
Identifies market potential, reviews pricing and market strategies, estimates potential sales, and identifies distribution/channel issues.
Prepares periodic sales report showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed client base expansion.
Assess market product offering and provide recommendations for new products, product simplification, and product standardization based on market needs.
Travels throughout assigned territory to call on established and prospective customers to solicit
Orders and talk with customers. Attend tradeshows. Represent MAPEI at trade association meetings to promote product.
Monitor and control expenditures of the region to conform to budgetary requirements.
Recruit, train, develop and coach sales personnel to ensure a quality organization that can deliver goals and objectives.
Monitor and evaluate the activities and products of the competition.
Develops customer training programs.
Investigates and resolves customer problems.
Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, safety rules and instructions.
Performs other ad hoc duties as required.
