Position Summary

Provide direct supportive care in a residential treatment setting to approximately 16 men challenged with chronic homelessness and substance abuse.

Essential Duties and Functions

The goal of the Recovery Specialist is to assist and support residents with re-integration skills necessary to reunite with society and community. The duties of this positon include, but are not limited to:

A. Chores/House Maintenance

  1. Assist with maintaining the physical plant by monitoring and inspecting household chores.

  2. Assist with completing household tasks.

  3. Maintain the building repair log

  4. Implement daily schedule.

B. Food and Household Goods

  1. Assist and support cooking, meal planning, food inventory.

  2. Support, assist, and monitor meal preparation.

  3. Support implementation of Nutrition Program.

  4. Monitor and assist at mealtime.

  5. Monitor the food and household goods budget.

C. Medication and Health Management

  1. Assist with securing prescriptions.

  2. Log new medication in medication log book.

  3. Monitor the self-administration of all medication and log in

medication log as assigned by Director.

  1. Assist with scheduling medical appointments and follow-up on medical


  1. Collect and document collection of urine samples as assigned.

D. Educational:

  1. Collaborate with all necessary people to complete all ADL level responsibilities.

  2. Distribute and collect initial and discharge Consumer Satisfaction Survey

  3. Assist in conflict resolution.

  4. Provide crisis intervention.

  5. Participate in Program milieu

  6. Attend and/or facilitate educational groups and meetings (e.g. meal planning,

Community Meeting) as assigned by Director.

  1. Actively support socialization and recreational activities.

E. Program

  1. Document educational groups and any other significant contact.

  2. Conduct, facilitate and document fire drills as assigned by the Director.

  3. Participate in Team Support Mtgs., Staff Mtgs. and supervision as assigned by Director

  4. Attend all scheduled/mandatory trainings as outlined by CBH, DDAP, and the employee s individualized training plan.

  5. Read log daily and document all program activities in log at the end of each shift.

  6. Complete intake packets and inventory upon admission and discharge.

  7. Assist with securing all benefits for which people are eligible (e.g. Welfare, SSI)

  8. Escort people to appointments and shopping as assigned by Director.

  9. Conduct filing, chart auditing and medication reviews as assigned.

  10. Provide emergency coverage for next assigned by Director to insure continuity of care.


High School Graduate or G.E.D. Proficient in MS Word and web-based email required. Personal Recovery/Life Experience accepted. Valid Driver s License required. Must be able to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays.
