Primary Role

This role will lead and support multiple in-flight SAP data sourcing efforts across multiple application development efforts and be accountable for innovation and continuous improvement of data preparation and movement patterns. This position will be responsible for designing and improving the technical development of HANA views as well as ensuring that the data is accurately synchronized with Hadoop. They will also be responsible for leading the technical development of innovative data solutions to improve the accuracy, consistency and quality of data collected from SAP and made available for application development.

Key Accountabilities

Technology Roadmap Development - 20%

  • Drive the effort to develop plans that match short-term and long-term business goals with specific technology solutions to help meet those goals. The plan applies to a new product or process or to an emerging technology.

  • Working with the line of business leaders and industry experts, ensure the plans help 1) reach a consensus about a set of needs and the technologies required to satisfy those needs, 2) provide a mechanism to help forecast technology developments, and 3) provide a framework to help plan and coordinate technology developments.

  • Team Development* - 15%

  • Assist in team development while holding teams accountable for their commitments, removing roadblocks to their work; leveraging organizational resources to improve capacity for project work; and mentoring and developing team members.

  • Promote empowerment of the team, ensure that each team member is fully engaged in the project and making a meaningful contribution, and encourage a sustainable pace with high-levels of quality for the team.

  • Perform as a team of strategic, creative, and technical professionals who partner with our clients to solve business problems and meet meaningful business goals.

Technology Expertise - 45%

  • Act as an expert in a particular field of knowledge [this may be a business/functional area and/or a particular technology] and provide detailed information and advice as necessary in that specialization in order to achieve business outcomes.

  • Develop and/or promote technical solutions which support the business requirements within their area of expertise. Be accountable for specific deliverables in relation to software or web development and/or support.

  • As needed, lead the technical activity within their area of specialization.

  • Product Owner Support* - 20%

  • Support the Head of Technology Enablement/Customer Enablement in managing customer expectations for project deliverables, managing stakeholder communications, and helping to implement an effective system of project governance.

  • Engage closely with clients to understand what business objectives they want to accomplish through technology enablement and then work with the Customer Enablement team of developers and designers to bring those ideas to life.

Knowledge / Skills


  • Good knowledge of RDBMS structures of HANA, Oracle, MS SQL and other databases Good knowledge of open source Hadoop technologies for structured and unstructured data management

  • Good knowledge of JIRA to track projects.

  • Good knowledge of SAP ECC, CRM, SRM and ISU data structures

  • Extensive troubleshooting skills.

  • Skills:*

  • Experience with SAP functional and technical data objects – HANA, SLT, Views and Tables.

  • Experience with multi-landscape development practices and SAP specific promotion tools such as transports and XML export/import. Experience using SQL database tools (i.e. Hana Studio, DBVisualizer, Squirrel, etc.) to be able to look at structured data across platforms.

  • Experience with open source Big Data is desirable – HDFS, Hive, Spark and NiFi.

  • Experience with creating SQL database objects like, tables, views, indexes ; writing SQL queries, validations, and procedures Use of Joins and sub-Queries to simplify complex queries involving multiple tables Familiarity with agile methodology.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Good presentation skills.

  • Self-starter with ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously with a keen desire to learn and expand depth of knowledge.

  • Good Collaboration , prioritization and team working skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast paced dynamic environment with virtual teams.

  • Education:*
